Hope you all had a lovely Christmas and new year break!
I’m really delighted to bring you another my the series of interviews featuring brides who have commissioned jewellery and accessories for their wedding day from me.
Alison commissioned a comb and some earrings from me for herself, and matching earrings, necklaces combs and a headband for her four bridesmaids. Over to Alison to tell you about her Gioia Mia designs:
At what stage in the whole wedding planning process did you start thinking about your jewellery and accessories?
A few months before my wedding.
How did you decide what accessories to wear?
I found an interesting picture in a magazine of a tiara and wanted one designed to look similar, then earrings, necklace and bridesmaids all fell into place.
Alison popped round to the studio one afternoon and we had a good chat about the ideas she had.
She told me she was after a headpiece and some earrings to match a necklace that she was going to wear. She wanted both of these to be very subtle and delicate.
We got chatting about materials and she picked out some very pretty white glass flowers, Swarovski rhinestones and pearls in white, which all went with the necklace she had brought along.
We discussed the possibility making her headpiece either as a headband or comb, and after trying on both, she decided she would prefer a comb.
For Alison’s bridesmaids, I made matching combs, necklaces, earrings and a headband for her chief bridesmaid, all in the ‘Rococo’ style.
Is there any advice about jewellery and accessories that you could give a bride to be?
Keep it simple, pretty and let your personality shine through.
What did you enjoy most about having your jewellery designed and made for you?
Having unique items that were designed from stones, gems etc that I had picked out.
You can see the pieces I made for Alison and for her bridesmaids on my website in the ‘Real Brides’ section, as well as lots of other images of beautiful Gioia Mia brides and their commissions on their wedding day.
